Shell and BP each have over 100,000 directly employed staff globally. But the upper levels of these two companies are overwhelmingly white, male, graduate and British, Dutch or American.
These two extractive companies reside in London, in part to ‘mine’ future executives. The tools of this extraction are through recruitment agencies, such as Brewer & Morris, and through the relationships that Shell & BP foster with key British universities, such as Imperial College.
